Forever

FOREVER - Written by Carroll Bryant

You say you will love me forever
How sweet
Forever is a very long time
What makes you think you will live that long?
What makes you think I will?

How can I even begin to describe my feelings for you?
They are as gentle as a summer breeze
More delicate than the fluff from a butterflies wings

Your words of forever worries me
Even scares me
Every time a girl said that to me
Things never exactly worked out

Do you understand what I am trying to say?
You say you do
You don’t

Do you?

Then comes the tenderness of your touch
Your kiss
The lips from Heaven
I sometimes feel them on my ear lobe
In the early morning  of the hours
Soft as a feather, they are
Sweeter than honey
They are

When you lay on top of me under the blankets
Gazing down like an angel
Smiling
Yes, like you are right now
It moves me inside
The core of my soul shakes with anticipation
Of what might come next

Forever?
This is what you say
This is what you promise
This will be what you break

Nothing lasts forever
Not even will the universe exist for so long
Just love me for the now
Forever is merely a wish that refuses to come true
Just love me for while you’re here
Forever is an illusion that kills magicians
Just love me for the moment

Forever is an old pair of socks with holes

Forever?
That’s a very, very long time

How sweet
