THE COMBAT ZONE - Written by Carroll Bryant
It was at night
When I thought I saw stars in the sky
It was fire works
From another unscheduled Fourth of July
I heard the sound of thunder
Death surrounding me on all sides
My friends were sitting there with me
With tears in their eyes
And the funny thing about it
I was gonna go home
But they said no
You're in a combat zone
A combat zone
The combat zone
It was a nightmare
Like nothing I had ever seen
Who could have imagined
That we could be so cruel and mean?
But it was happening
Here, now, right before my very eyes
In the darkness, I couldn't see past the light
And the funny thing about it
And the funny thing about it
I was supposed to go home
But they said no
You're in a combat zone
A combat zone
The combat zone
And when the show was over
And our senseless fight was through
The people claimed in celebration
That it was a humanitarian thing to do
I can't buy this subscription
There was nothing there to prove
The people say we were the winners
But I believe ... both sides did lose
And the funny thing about it
I was gonna go home
But they said no
You're in a combat zone
A combat zone
The combat zone
