Of A Sparrow

OF A SPARROW - Written by Carroll Bryant

She said she gave her love away a long, long time ago
It's riding on the wings of a sparrow

She talks like she never met the past and her future she can't let go
It's riding on the wings of a sparrow

She spends her days walking through a field
Hiding all of her lost memories
Chasing dead butterflies and black rainbows
Among her own company

Another day is done
Another day is gone
It wasn't so long ago
When her time was riding
On the wings of a sparrow

And to another lonely night
Of lasting misery
Singing sad songs in the shadow of the dawn
Among her own company

(And losing her mind)

She said her love would never stay and that's the only thing she knows
It's riding on the wings of a sparrow

She said she gave her love away, and it's the only pain that grows
It's riding on the wings of a sparrow

"Listen to the movement of the creek. I will be the wind. Reach for me tonight my love, and I will be again. Listen to the stillness of the pale moonlight. I will be the end. Reach for me tonight my love, and I will be again."

She said she gave her love away a long, long time ago
It's riding on the wings of a sparrow

It doesn't matter where she goes
She's riding on the wings ... of a sparrow
