Hard To Hold

HARD TO HOLD - Written by Carroll Bryant

Yesterday couldn't be so far away
I can still remember all the crazy things
That I said and done

People claim you have to move ahead
Never looking back is their philosophy

So cancel all your dreams, and put them all aside
You know it isn't right to keep them in your sights
Live your life for now because you're getting old
Drifting with the tide and so I am told
That yesterdays dreams are hard to hold

Loving pains, they take what they claim
Now I can recall some of their names
But the feelings have changed

People say you have to try and walk away
Never to return is their remedy

So cancel your beating heart and learn to hide
You know it isn't right to keep love in your sights
Live your life because you know you're growing old
Go with the flow or so I am told
That yesterdays love is hard to hold

It's difficult to imagine that people choose to lose
They are self destructive and seemingly confused
Why can not they see that everything's for real?
And no matter how hard I try I can't change the way I feel

Now everything around me spins in dismay
I can't find a reason for everything I say
But what I mean is very true

People pray with tears in their eyes
Never surrender is their compromise

So cancel your thinking mind and turn out the lights
You know it isn't right to make friends with the night
Just go with the flow because you're getting old
Drifting with the tide of everything I'm told
Just live your life
Just live your life for now
But tell me why
Why is everything in this world so hard to hold?

Yesterday ... shouldn't be so far away
