Statue Of Love

STATUE OF LOVE - Written by Carroll Bryant

Gallantly we wander through life's everlasting pain
Shadows are cast out into the night

Love is to be like a statue
It should stay in one place and not travel about

And on our moments of doubt
Will they stars ever keep their shine?
Will the sun and moon ever meet in time?

To me, you were the statue
The statue of love
Now you are the gypsy that epitomizes loneliness

I wonder if you really care
Then other times, I care not an ounce
To comprehend this feeling for you
Is to consider suicide by way of boredom

Without positive signs from your heart
I am encouraged to do nothing

Was it necessary to lie to me?
Then tell the truth when it was much too late?
What sense does that make?
What rhyme?

Flourished feelings expel into many different directions
You are the murderer of my heart
You will pay the price someday
Your glitter will fade
Just like your face
And your memories

If you fail to heed the warnings of the wind
The outcome will shock you
Even shake you
And break you from your own spell

I did my best for you
Loved you
Cared for you
Held you
I stayed in the truth of my light
But your heart is too young
Your mind too confused
Your soul too lonely from abuse

I will wait for time to pass
You will become a statue again
Not of love, but as you lie in death
In your coffin
From a disease that hasn't any cure

Vanity

Your love for yourself is distorted
And perverted
It is the only true love you may come to ever know
And that love is tainted with lies
And greed
At least it will be a statue for you
A statue of love
