West Virginia Mountains

WEST VIRGINIA MOUNTAINS - Written by Carroll Bryant

He came from the valley's of southern California * He left his way of life * Becoming his own man * He traveled east to the state of West Virginia * With a pocketful of dreams * And shoes filled with that California sand * He saw her face * That look in her eyes * They wrote their own story under God's clear blue sky * And then they both disappeared into the West Virginia mountains * All it took was a risk and the fate of a fateful kiss * And they both disappeared into the West Virginia mountains * Never to be seen or heard from again *And then a legend grew * And everybody knew * What would you give for a love that grows fonder? * Ever so close to a place over yonder *

He came from the streets of New York City * He left his way of life * Becoming his own man * He traveled down a road that led to West Virginia * With a pocketful of dreams * And a heart that was filled with big city hopes * He saw her face * They smiled in frozen time * Touched to be recognized under God's clear blue sky * And they both disappeared into the West Virginia mountains * All it took was a risk and the fate of a fateful kiss * And they both disappeared into the West Virginia mountains * Never to be seen or heard from again * And then another legend grew * And everybody knew * The stories that end in love's happiness *  What would you give for a love that grows fonder? * Ever so close to a place over yonder *

And love always disappears into the West Virginia mountains * Love is so dear and close to the heart * Love always disappears into the West Virginia mountains * Take me from here * Somewhere far away *  What would you give for a love that grows fonder? * Ever so close to a place over yonder * A place where legends grow * And maybe God is there *
