Long, Long Time Ago

LONG, LONG TIME AGO - Written by Carroll Bryant

Just when you think that the worst part is over
You’re going under
Everything around you turns into mush

Just when you think that you really can make it
You know you can take it
You see her again and you fall back into love

It doesn’t really matter how hard it hurts
You can’t override all the lost feelings left inside

I know it was a long, long time ago
When you broke my heart and walked away
I know it was a long, long time ago
But if you ask me, it still feels like yesterday

Just when you can find that old happy face
Knowing it was misplaced
Everyone around you starts breathing again

Just when you think that you know can do it
You look for to prove it
Only to succumb to the beginning of the end

It doesn’t really matter if she hates your guts
It’s still who you are and you carry the scars

I know it was a long, long time ago
When you broke my heart and walked away
I know it was a long, long time ago
But if you ask me, it still feels like yesterday
I know it was a long, long time ago
When you slapped my face and walked away
I know it was a long, long time ago
Pardon my love, but it still feels like yesterday

And you claw at the side of the walls you are trapped in
Crying for help and no one is listening
You do everything you can and still you don’t understand
How she got to be so under your skin

Just when you think that the worst part is over
You’re going under
Everything around you turns into mush

A wet painting dripping on the floor

I know it was a long, long time ago
When you broke my heart and walked away
I know it was a long, long time ago
But if you ask me, it still feels like yesterday
I know it was a long, long time ago
When you slapped my face and walked away
I know it was a long, long time ago
Pardon my love, but it still feels like yesterday
