WHERE I WANT TO BE - Written by Carroll Bryant
Walking down the path I chose
Can’t recognize a single
place I go
Your face is many faces in
the crowd
Whispers spoken I can hear
Coming through to me loud and
clear
I never heard silence speak
so loud
To think I said I didn’t need
you
To think I lied when I didn’t
want to
Still here we are so far
apart
Breaking time and breaking
hearts
I try so hard to understand
The way you think you know I
am
Somewhere lost inside your
memory
Love threw away our yesterday
The games we played, the
nights we stayed
It’s better if I pretend
endlessly
Right now you are where I
want to be
Reading words of many lines
Life recalls a better time
Your eyes see with my eyes
way too much
Distance separates my will
Reaching out to get my fill
Your hand is in my hand from
a touch
To think I said I didn’t need
you
To think I tried when I didn’t
have to
Still here we are so all
alone
Making shrines and making
poems
I try so hard to understand
The way you think you know I
am
Somewhere lost inside your
memory
Love threw away our yesterday
The games we played, the
nights we stayed
It’s better if I pretend
endlessly
Right now you are where I
want to be
The things we took we took
too far
Cuts so deep they leave a
scar in the middle of our bones
And every time we knelt to
save
A life we willingly threw
away
We watched our moment
dissipate into the dawning of our groans
Taking everything we owned
Oh God I miss you so
To think I said I didn’t need
you
To think I lied when I didn’t
want to
Still here we are so far
apart
Breaking time and breaking
hearts
Oh God I miss you so much
I try so hard to understand
The way you think you know I
am
Somewhere lost inside your
memory
Love threw away our yesterday
The games we played, the
nights we stayed
It’s better if I pretend
endlessly
Right now you are where I
want to be
Right now … I need you here
with me
