MYSTERIES AND QUESTIONS - Written by Carroll Bryant
I took a walk late last night around suppertime
Something much heavier than that
Was weighing on my mind
It was dark and the cold wind blew across my face
Freezing my thoughts so still
And they dangled in one place
Making suggestions I don't understand
Mysteries and questions I can't answer
Answer them for me, somebody please
Answer them them for me, somebody
Please, somebody, answer them for me
Somebody please, answer them for me
I stand on trial in their court
A witness to my own
As they prosecute me for crimes I haven't done
And if a verdicts what they want
Then where is all this common ground
That they claim forgives and loves?
And in the moment of my sleep
(Peace and dreams)
They dare to ask me how I plead
Innocent or guilty? ... I can't answer
Answer them for me, somebody please
Answer them them for me, somebody
Please, somebody, answer them for me
Somebody please, answer them for me
I slip some air beneath my wings
Pretend that I can fly
I sit in judgement from my peers
And family
They cast their stones at me so hard
It breaks my heart and bones
It breaks me
Mysteries and questions
I can't answer them
Mysteries and questions
I can't believe in it - in them
(No one)
I throw caution to the earth
All just to find a view
I make them think that I don't care
When deep inside I do
Running from the pain and memories
Running from myself
Running from my life
Mysteries and questions
I can't answer them
Mysteries and questions
Someone believe in me
Mysteries and questions
I can't answer
Answer them for me, somebody please
Answer them them for me, somebody
Please, somebody, answer them for me
Somebody please, answer them for me
Answer them for me, somebody please
Answer them them for me, somebody
Please, somebody, answer them for me
Somebody please, answer them for me
I took another walk again
