UNDER THE OVERPASS - Written by Carroll Bryant
Down under the overpass
Dreams are scarce and they die fast
Nobody knows who they want to be
But it's simple, you see
Down under the overpass
Dreams are scarce and they die fast
Nobody knows who they are
It's so bizarre
And the people make excuses
For being late to the party
And the ones who got there early
Wanted to leave before it started
And the reruns on the TV
Are getting older than you and me
But just like life, I'm sorry
That's just the way it's got to be
Down under the overpass
Dreams are scarce and they die fast
Nobody knows what to do
For me and for you
Down under the overpass
Dreams are scarce and they die fast
Nobody thinks in terms of fate
That's a mistake
And the people take from a wealthy man
And gives it to somebody else
Who has their own little cookie jar
Stashed up on a shelf
And it's crazy the way we breathe and live
And sometimes it makes me cry
There's so much for us in this world to give
So much before we die
Down under the overpass
Dreams are scarce and they die fast
They die fast
