Sit Down With Me

SIT DOWN WITH ME - Written by Carroll Bryant

I watched her as she stood standing in the honky tonk for a while
I flashed her a grin of mine and she flashed me a smile
I wondered to myself could she be the answer to all of my dreams?
So I tapped her on the shoulder and asked, "Would you like to sit down with me?"

She struck me as an angel lost inside the scene
Shyly she nodded her head and took the seat across from me
We started touching and holding hands and I was sweating from the heat
I was glad I asked her that question, "Would you like to sit down with me?"

Sit down with me for the remainder of the night
Sit down with me for the remainder of your life
I hope I'm not coming on too strong from a feeling I can believe
And you sure would make me happy if you would just sit down with me

The night wore on forever to a song I couldn't sing
Would we stay together, or would she ever try and leave?
A world of sweet endeavors with kisses flavored with cream
I don't think she understands why I asked her to sit down with me

Sit down with me for the remainder of the night
Sit down with me for the remainder of your life
I hope I'm not coming on too strong, but I need you can't you see?
And you sure would make me happy if you would just sit down with me

The morning brought the sunshine through the window, through the trees
A ray of hope that was clinging on the edge of the summer breeze
She walked out like it was nothing which brought me to my knees
I asked her for one final time if she would just sit down with me

Sit down with me for the remainder of the night
Sit down with me for the remainder of your life
I hope I'm not coming on too strong from a feeling I can believe
And you sure would make me happy if you would just sit down with me

And you sure would make me happy girl if you would just sit down with me
