The Midnight Train

THE MIDNIGHT TRAIN - Written by Carroll Bryant

Gave the man my ticket
Took a seat and drifted away
Woke up a little later
And found the night took the place of day

Asked the man sitting next to me
If he could give me the time
A quarter to twelve was his answer
And I still got you on my mind

Looking out of the window
Watching the falling rain
Thinking about you
Riding on the midnight train

Drank myself a cup of coffee
Crushed out my cigarette
All the love that you gave me
Was a little too much to forget

And so I'm hoping to find you
Riding on the tracks of my heart
And if and when I find you again
I'm hoping we can make a new start

And I'm looking out of the window
Watching the falling rain
Thinking so much about you
Riding on the midnight train

Dawn is slowly arriving
And the sun is making its way
Though the sun will be shinning
To me it's still just a cloudy day

Searching for an answer
Why does love have to be so hard?
Inside all of the questions
There remains another broken heart

And I was looking out of the window
Watching the falling rain
Last night I thought about you
Riding on the midnight train

Looking out of the window
Watching the falling rain
Thinking about you
Riding on the midnight
Riding on the midnight
Riding on the midnight train
