Wages Of Lust

WAGES OF LUST - Written by Carroll Bryant

If only I could tell you, maybe it would be all right
But how can I sell you a truth that is a lie?

"What can I say? It was dark, and I was lonely. You were there. I was ... well, you know, I mean, after all those drinks what did you expect? Now don't try and say that it was something more to you because we both know this is not love. So, why make it out to be something it's not?"

If only I could tell you, maybe it would be all right
But how can I sell you a truth that is a lie?

"I could understand your feelings better if I was jealous of the other guys you talk to, but the fact remains that I'm not. Perhaps we should just go back to being the people we were, and return to the ones we really care about. We should get back to the worlds we already made with them. Get back to normalcy. Let's chalk up this experience to a lesson learned about cheating. Something to reflect back on in our later years. I don't know, but maybe we should just forget all about it. There's really no point in ... I mean, there's really no future. It's over. It was one night. One time. Thank you. You're welcome. Goodbye."

If only I could tell you, maybe it would be all right
But how can I sell you a truth that is a lie?
