Flip The Ashes

FLIP THE ASHES - Written by Carroll Bryant

I wake up from a restless dream in the middle of the night
Look what you've done to me
Another fight and I can't sleep
I light up a cigarette
I try so hard but cannot forget what you mean to me

Look what you've done to me

I sit in my chair
There's memories there
I look around but can't see the pain
I feel it
Take a hit and flip the ashes

This summer heat makes me sweat in the middle of the night
I have regrets, I can't deny
I try to buy the time it takes to mend a broken heart
I try because it's all I got and it's all I can do
It's still tearing me apart

Look what you've done to me

I sit in my chair
There's memories there
I look around but can't see the pain
I feel it
Take a hit and flip the ashes

I scratch my leg and rub my head
I breathe for life but wish I was dead
How did I become this man?
Can't understand
Take a hit and flip the ashes

What did you want from me?
Was it my heart? Well, you got it for free
I paid the price
Yes, I covered the cost
You revel in the victory
I linger in the loss
All I know is that it ended
Take a hit and flip the ashes
I sit in my chair
There's memories there
I look around but can't see the pain
I feel it
Take a hit and flip the ashes

I get to my feet and crush out my smoke
Go back to my bed and I'm walking real slow
It was all a bad joke
How did I become this man?
Can't understand

Look what you've done to me

I feel it
