FACING DEFEAT - Written by Carroll Bryant
I've been through so much in my short life
It's hard for me to say
But it seems I can remember when I've seen better days
Lovers come and lovers go just like a gentle wind
Each one ending like the last one
Facing defeat again
To tell the truth is hard for some when lies are a part of life
Picking up strangers in a barroom
And going somewhere to share the night
One night stands is all it's been and it's got to stop somewhere
But it's so hard to find somebody special
And to hope that they really care
I need a lover to last forever and I also need a friend
But I can never seem to get it together
Facing defeat again
You know, it never comes so easy
It's so hard to just get by
Without a true love, I'm going crazy
I'd like to dry the tears from my eyes
So I'll keep on searching for all of the answers
I know they're hiding deep within
I may not like all that I find because I'm facing defeat again
And if you ever talk about me please don't you pretend
That I was a winner and never a sinner
Because I went down facing defeat to the end
You know, it never comes so easy
It's so hard to just get by
Without a true love, I'm going crazy
I'd like to dry the tears from my eyes
I've been through so much in my short life
It's hard for me to say
But it seems I can remember when I've seen ... better days
