Goodbye's Aren't What They're Supposed To Be

GOODBYE'S AREN'T WHAT THEY'RE SUPPOSED TO BE
- Written by Carroll Bryant

Our love was so good
It was going to last forever, girl
You know, I thought that it actually would

But we gave in to give and take
We had made so many mistakes
Our love was so easy to break

Live and learn
That rule sure does apply to us
Now we know
That it takes a little thing called trust

Goodbye's aren't what they're supposed to be
Goodbye's aren't what they're supposed to be

It's hard to hurt the one you love
Maybe you didn't love them enough
But still, it hurts way too much

Leave them laughing when you go
Hide your heart inside your soul
Oh, no, it's just a fancy show

Sometimes
Things are not what they seem to be
And it hurts
When you have to set somebody free

 Goodbye's aren't what they're supposed to be
Goodbye's aren't what they're supposed to be

Live and learn
That rule sure does apply to us
Now we know
That it takes a little thing called trust

The whole thing was a bust!

 Goodbye's aren't what they're supposed to be
Goodbye's aren't what they're supposed to be
