By A Thread

BY A THREAD - Written by Carroll Bryant

Just an after thought in the morning
Will your broken eyes ever heed the warning?
My heart could touch your soul if you would just let it
My head can’t let you go so girl just forget it

And I hang by a thread
Everyday when I let your memory back into me and
I wish I was dead
Then and only then would I forget you
Then and only then would I forget your name

Just an early train of new emotions
Arriving at the station and causing commotion
My heart is cinder so my head just forgets it
My soul can’t pretend but the pain seems to let it

And I hang by a thread
Everyday when I let your memory back into me and
I wish I was dead
Then and only then would I forget you
Then and only then would I forget your name

If I can’t breath the air then I can’t breath you in
This is my despair and you know this

If I can’t burn what doesn’t even exist
Then when will my power of resistance start kicking in?

You’re my dilemma
You are my shame
A scar on the wound of time

You are my enemy
You are to blame
A victim of your own Divine

Why didn’t you save me from all the things that you promised me
That you were going save me from?

And I hang by a thread
Everyday when I let your memory back into me and
I wish I was dead
Then and only then would I forget you
Then and only then would I forget your name
Then an only then would I ever let you
Then and only then would I ever let you back in

Yes I would let you back in

I would let you back in again

And I hang by a thread
