ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM - Written by Carroll Bryant
Elephants can fly in
purgatory
Though I don’t know why
That’s just the way this
nightmare goes
Sure enough you called my
bluff
Now spiders crawl upside the
junk
That you left behind and I
can’t find my sanity
Jackals are watching me, my
every move
Though I see a lazy sky
The dawn is looking blue
Sure to hell I smell the
smell
You know me all too well
Like it would even matter
that leaving me just leaves me flattered
And I’m sinking inside of
this empty house
Chasing hallucinations and a
gimpy mouse
Every step I take I feel the
misery
I will name him little memory
Something more than what you
left for me
Danger is as careful as
danger allows
Though purgatory darkens
With every twist and turn
Damn it all you found me
Standing in the corner
Where everything you ever
loved is standing there beside me
And I’m sinking inside of
this empty house
Chasing hallucinations and a
gimpy mouse
Every step I take I feel the
misery
I will name him little memory
Something more than what you
left for me
Running down a hallway that
keeps warping at my feet
I know it isn’t real
I know that I am still asleep
Trying every doorknob that is
locked inside itself
I know it isn’t real
It’s just a vision of my
future
Damn it to hell when I can
tell
That you know me all too well
Like it would even matter
that leaving me just leaves me flattered
And I’m sinking inside of
this empty house
Chasing hallucinations and a
gimpy mouse
Every step I take I feel the
misery
I will name him little memory
Something more than what you
left for me
Elephants can fly in hell
