Avenue Of The Dead

AVENUE OF THE DEAD - Written by Carroll Bryant

For many days I have walked beneath the sun
In many ways I have talked to everyone
It took a history of time to build this pyramid that is my life
Down the Avenue of the Dead I go tonight

As ancient as the art of love has become
The heart grows fonder to the touch of anyone
It took a many a toll on me and years to find the light
Down the Avenue of the Dead I go tonight

Egyptian dreams and Peruvian queens and hearts a made of stone
Victorious kings of lesser things and slaves that sleep alone
Have become the road we travel and all the wars we fight
Down the Avenue of the Dead I go tonight

Egyptian queens and Arabian dreams and hearts a made of stone
Mid-evil kings of lesser things and slaves that sleep alone
Have become the soul we borrowed and all the wars we fight
Down the Avenue of the Dead I go tonight

For many days I have gave unto the sun
In many ways I have sacrificed to none
It took a history of time to blind me from the parasites
Down the Avenue of the Dead I go tonight

Egyptian dreams and Peruvian queens and hearts a made of stone
Victorious kings of finer things and slaves that sleep alone
Have become the road we travel and all the wars we fight
Down the Avenue of the Dead I go tonight

As ancient as the art of love has become
I realize
I'm walking down the Avenue of the Dead again tonight
