Like That, It's Over

LIKE THAT, IT'S OVER - Written by Carroll Bryant

You stepped into the picture and you smiled at the camera
But when it was developed, your eyes were devil red
I put it in my album and placed it in my dresser
A meaningless suggestion and it became officially dead
Like that, it’s over
Like that, it’s in the past
I did discover
That promises don’t last
And if I never dream again of true love to come true
Like that, I’m laying it, laying it all on you

You walked into the kitchen and you gave to me a recipe
But I when tried to make it, you threw it in my face
I got a towel to clean it but you took it in an instant
Then you left the premises before it got too late
Like that, it’s over
Like that, it’s cut and dry
I did discover that feelings can soon die
And if I never love again like I used to do
Like that, I’m blaming it, blaming it all on you

Have you never wrestled with the notion not to care?
I bet you never did
I bet you never will
Have you never wrestled with the tangles in your hair?
I’ll place a bet on this that you never did
And you never will for as long as you live

You walked into the bedroom and I opened up the covers
To let you in to love me but you left me there to cry
I fell asleep too easy between the sheets so cold and clammy
Just to be awakened by the time that passed me by
Like that, it’s over
Like that, it’s dead and gone
I did discover my pain was your pure fun
And if I never close my eyes and hope for something new
Like that, I’m laying it, laying it all on you

Like that, it’s over
Like that, it’s in the past
I did discover that promises don’t last
And if I never dream again for true love to come true
Like that, I’m blaming it, blaming it all on you

Like that, it’s over
