TO BEND A STRAIGHT LINE - Written by Carroll Bryant
You know, it used to be, I had it easy
Anything I wanted, and it was mine
I guess that you could say I just turned lazy
Going out to parties that just totally blew my mind
To bend a straight line
How I wasted time
On fun loving women
Beer, whiskey and wine
And if go looking back now
I know just what I'll find
Every little thing it took
To bend a straight line
Trouble soon became my middle name
I soon realized that life wasn't just a game
And things went wrong when I became of age
I did something, and I got caught
And they threw me in a cage
To bend a straight line
How I wasted time
On fun loving women
Beer, whiskey and wine
And if go looking back now
I know just what I'll find
Every little thing it took
To bend a straight line
And now here I am behind these prison walls
Looking out at freedom that I foolishly threw away
And the sun, oh the sun, how bright it does shine
I sit and I wonder why I had to bend my straight line
To bend a straight line
How I wasted time
On fun loving women
Beer, whiskey and wine
And if go looking back now
I know just what I'll find
Every little thing it took
To bend a straight line
And if I go looking back now
I know it was a crime
That's exactly what it took
To bend my straight line
