Behind Those Eyes

BEHIND THOSE EYES - Written by Carroll Bryant

No show and tell, but what the hell
She seems to have control
On top - a mind
Inside - a heart
And deep within - a soul

She's too much knowledge from too much college
But she won't let it show
She's cleared her table so now she's able
To break out - and don't you know

That she hides behind those eyes
Like a star that shines
You know that she is terminal
And she hides it all inside
Like a  flagellant child or maybe
Like a criminal

Hot and cold or in between
You know she has no shame
She'll eat up time
On given nights
Savor the taste of pain

She's too much lady to go acting crazy
For you to think she's gone insane
She'll roll the dice and not think twice
Because she's a veteran of the game

And she hides behind those eyes
Like a star that shines
You know that she is terminal
And she hides it all inside
Like a  flagellant child or maybe
Like a criminal

All of time is a fortress of her golden heart
Too rich to be spoiled
Too poor to play the part

She keeps on smiling
Always hiding
She keeps on smiling
Taking it in
Never to reveal the secret to her grin

And she hides behind those eyes
Like a star that shines
You know that she is terminal
And she hides it all inside
Like a  flagellant child or maybe
Like a criminal
