HOPE IN THE CHILDREN - Written by Carroll Bryant
I can see them looking at their children
Tiny off springs that are truly gifts of love
"That's my boy." I hear the parents saying
"She's my little precious. She's the 'L' of my life"
What do we see in the children?
Are they carrying the burden of our long lost dreams?
What do we see in the children?
Our past defeats or our future's identity?
"I can't wait until I get married"
The young girl is saying that she wants a little girl
Why must we wish to have them before we have ourselves?
Get caught up in a feeling right before the world
What do we see in the children?
Are they carrying the burden of our long lost dreams?
What do we see in the children?
Our past defeats or our future's identity?
All of the people say that hope is in the children
They said that too when I was a foolish lad
What am I to do, repeat it? I can't do it
If things are all that sad then think about tomorrow
And ask
What do we see in the children?
Are they carrying the burden of our long lost dreams?
What do we see in the children?
Our past defeats or our future's identity?
