THANK YOU, PRAY - Written by Carroll Bryant
I live among those who say they worship Satan
One, two, three and so the fucking money goes
Rich man builds his city full of cheap tricks
Four, five, six and maybe seven are sold
The days and nights are like opposites
But from one another do they both exist
Pain is sought from each others pleasure
The bite that heals becomes a kiss
Ain't it funny how we beg for mercy?
In a time of crisis, what do we say?
Ain't it funny how we remember his name?
Thank you, pray
Ain't it funny how we beg for mercy?
In a time of crisis and we act that way
Ain't it funny how we remember his fame?
Thank you, pray
I cling to life sometimes like I'm afraid to die
Forgetting all that I was ever taught
Centuries have unfolded before my very eyes
Sometimes I forget that I'm the one who's caught
Angel that appears has left me a blessing
Looking back, was left but a curse
I suppose some like their salad without dressing
I suppose things could be worse
Ain't it funny how we beg for mercy?
In a time of crisis, what do we say?
Ain't it funny how we remember his name?
Thank you, pray
Ain't it funny how we beg for mercy?
In a time of crisis and we act that way
Ain't it funny how we remember his fame?
Thank you, pray
I assume somewhere that our spirits are freelancing
Though my conscious mind does its best to lie
Like a plug pulled straight out from its socket
Where does all of that voltage like to hide?
I am one who must maintain a presence
Standing undecided until it's time for me to leave
The job of life is to find that perfect essence
To which someday to make everyone believe in me
Ain't it funny how we beg for mercy?
In a time of crisis, what do we say?
Ain't it funny how we remember his name?
Thank you, pray
Ain't it funny how we beg for mercy?
In a time of crisis and we act that way
Ain't it funny how we remember his fame?
Thank you, pray
