Heartbreak Pigeon

HEARTBREAK PIGEON - Written by Carroll Bryant

The sound of these empty streets
Is a car that might pass by
And I just can't believe
I've been walking them all night

I know it might be too late
To say what's been on my mind
But the logic may not escape
From the bottle of uncorked time

Danger is I could be alone if I throw it all away
Liar to be is clearly me without initiative
Without love to give
I don't want to be alone

And so goes the story of a dweller of love
Who hides the heartbreak inside
Keeping his thoughts to share with the wind
As the pigeon takes an early ride
Without an end is without a friend
So run, but you can't hide
Keeping his thoughts to share with the dawn
As the pigeon takes an early flight

"It's crazy, our love. Why do the embers burn in vain? I'll take your hand without politicians, without views or restraint. Just come feel the need. Come watch me bleed. Or come just to feel me go insane."

And so goes the story of a dweller of love
Who hides the heartbreak inside
Keeping his thoughts to share with the wind
As the pigeon takes an early ride
Without an end is without a friend
So run, but you can't hide
Keeping his thoughts to share with the dawn
As the pigeon takes an early flight

The sound of these empty streets
Is a car that might pass by
And I just can't believe
I've been walking them all night

Yes, I've been walking them all night
