In My Head

IN MY HEAD - Written by Carroll Bryant 

It started out with "Wasting Away"

And here I am still writing today

"I Got To Be Free" was the first by myself

It came from the heart of me as I remember it well
As if it was yesterday

The memories play with my head 

I could never send it away

Writing will be with me until I am dead

At first I was country then went pop and rock and roll

This power of expression was pouring from my soul

It didn't have a meaning and I didn't care

A reason wasn't needed

I just needed it to be there

It helped me through the nights 

It helped me through the days 

It helped me through the broken hearts 

It carried me through all the pain 

And there was pain 

So much pain

I only pray to the universe that it never goes away

My whole life is written in songs

And many poems that just happened along 

Everything that is meant to be

Is everything that I can see

And I remember it well

As if it was yesterday 

The memories play inside my head 

(My heart)

And the writing still rolls along 

I write this poetic ode to all of my songs 

Because they are all songs

In my head

And I remember it well 

As if it was yesterday
