The Question

THE QUESTION - Written by Carroll Bryant

Looking down that dark alley
There is no light
No shadow
No sound

I'm terrified to the center of my heart
I'm terrified to cover that un-ventured ground

I can feel it when I touch you
It is a shock that opens up my eyes
I'm so afraid to see what I've been missing
I couldn't handle your baby soft kisses tonight

What is the answer to love?
Why do we ask that question?
Isn't once, isn't once just not enough?
What is the answer to love?
Why do we try so hard so much?
Baby, give me suggestions
Maybe we, maybe we could fall in it all
What is the answer to love?

I know the reason isn't certain
We're living in material times
If I could only touch that falling star
Then maybe I could leave this all behind

It seems like everyone gets married
They start a life that ends up in dismay
I know they don't plan for that to happen
Still it seems to happen anyway

What is the answer to love?
Why do we ask that question?
Isn't once, isn't once just not enough?
What is the answer to love?
Why do we try so hard so much?
Baby, give me suggestions
Maybe we, maybe we could fall in it all
What is the answer to love?

I sing a song because I'm single
Holding tight just to follow my dreams
As I do I notice all around me
That people give their hearts not knowing what it means

What is to be will always be

What is the answer to love?
Why do we ask that question?
Isn't once, isn't once just not enough?
What is the answer to love?
Why do we try so hard so much?
Baby, give me suggestions
Maybe we, maybe we could fall in it all
What is the answer to love?
