A WASTED LIFE - Written by Carroll Bryant
We were like brothers
We hung together
Me, you never did ignore
You were there on the double
Whenever there was trouble
That's what friends are for
We were both crazy
We were both lazy
But we never did really care
We were too busy living
For some other reason than theirs
Remember the parties that we used to go to?
We wouldn't make it back home until dawn
Playing with jokers, aces and deuces
Until the final curtain was drawn
Remember the women that we always picked up?
And then we broke their hearts the next day
We thought we were funning but we were just running
Away
Maybe you couldn't handle it
All the pain and the strife
Maybe that's why you put a gun to your head that night
Maybe something was calling you and it was calling you that night
But now I can say in every way
That it was just a wasted life
Then one day I sensed a change
But I was too busy getting stoned
I didn't see that what you really needed
Was someone because you felt alone
What was the reason?
What was the problem?
Who is it that is to be the blame?
I guess it's too late to find any answers
But life without you won't be the same
And I can remember that night when they told me
What it was that went down
I stared into the darkness and searched for my feelings
But there was no feeling left to be found
Goodbye old friend
Maybe you couldn't handle it
All the pain and the strife
Maybe that's why you put a gun to your head that night
Maybe something was calling you and it was calling you that night
But now I can say in every way
That it was just a wasted life
