WE SPEAK - Written by Carroll Bryant
I climb atop the ladder
And look far beyond the sky
Sometimes it doesn't matter
Sometimes
We speak like an invention
And think too much about the dial
If looks could kill, we're gonners
Some cry
The men will come
The men they fight
Women will run
The children they hide
Flowers know the secret
And grow far beyond their dreams
It starts with only one seed
One garden
We speak of love's devotion
And wait too long to feel the noise
It happens when it wants to
Oh, joy
The men will come
The men they fight
Women will run
The children they hide
The morning will come
The morning is bright
Sons will fall
Daughters will lose their rights
We speak out of anger
We speak with the forked tongue
We speak out of time when we speak out of turn
We speak for a reason
We speak for none
We speak out of rhyme
We speak - sometimes
I climb atop the ladder
Sometimes it doesn't matter
Sometimes
The men will come
The men they fight
Women will run
The children they hide
