After The Promise

AFTER THE PROMISE - Written by Carroll Bryant

Solitude grips the heart of the night
Winds of winter blows with all of its might
I'm stranded here all alone and clean out of sight
From the rest of the world
Thinking about a girl

Memories of April days
Lives in my mind in terrifying ways
It's hard to move with the words that you say
When I'm sitting here feeling all of the pain
From a girl who left me to perish
And broken dreams I used to cherish
Of the future
Feeling like nothing but nothings only king

First she says she's leaving then she turns around and stays
The next thing you know she's gone the next day
I know sometimes that love is hard to explain
Sometimes it's so insecure

I didn't know by the look in her eyes
That falling in love would be my demise
All I ever wanted was a much better life
I was sick of it, and she was the cure

After the promise there was no promise anymore

I heart you still
The teacher taught me well
After the promise comes a lovers tale
I thought love would be true
I thought love was me and you
This time
I thought you wanted it too
I was so blind
After the promise leaves me totally confused

Solitude grips the heart of the night
Winds of winter blows with all of its might
I'm stranded here all alone and clean out of sight
From the rest of the world
Thinking about a girl

Feeling like nothing but nothings only king

First she says she's leaving then she turns around and stays
The next thing you know she's gone the next day
I know sometimes that love is hard to explain
Sometimes it's so insecure

I didn't know by the look in her eyes
That falling in love would be my demise
All I ever wanted was a much better life
I was sick of it, and she was the cure

After the promise there was no promise anymore

And there I am with everything I feel
I heart you still
Even after the promise
