Yesterday

YESTERDAY - Written by Carroll Bryant

There we were hanging down by the river
Talking all kinds of shit and hungry for touch
She was my girl from the first time I saw her
Loving that angel baby was really too much

Drinking that cheap stuff
It was all we could do and all we could afford
Lincoln Continental and a tank full of gas
Throwing our little parties down by the river
Once in a while we had to kick a little ass

Oh, but that was yesterday when we were filled with silly notions
Oh, and yesterday I was much too young to see
That yesterday wasn't going to last forever
Oh, but yesterday is exactly where I want to be

We always danced to the music that we played well into the morning
Heavy metal jamming and loving while rolling the floor
Holding that angel in my arms is all I care to remember
I can hear that girl still begging me for more

Let me tell you right now

That was yesterday when we were filled with silly notions
And yesterday I was much too young to see
That yesterday wasn't going to last forever
But yesterday is exactly where I want to be

I can still see the lights of the stars and the police cars
They're telling us to leave to go to another place
Behind the bleachers at the football field is where we'd go so late
Holding your face and laying you down and we make love
To the sound of the night in the background
Loving you girl until the world would just slow down

And you begging me for more

I think I was dreaming because my thoughts are so hazy
I got a picture in my wallet that says I'm not going crazy

In the end I think that we all went nuts

Oh, but that was yesterday when we were filled with silly notions
Oh, and yesterday I was much too young to see
That yesterday wasn't going to last forever
Oh, but yesterday is exactly where I want to be

Yesterday we were filled with silly notions
Yesterday I was much too young to see
That yesterday wasn't going to last forever
Oh, but yesterday is exactly where I want to be

Yesterday is the place where I feel so free
