DEEP IN MY HEART - Written by Carroll Bryant
It all began as a love affair
It meant nothing and we didn't care
So how was I to know what would start?
Now I carry that girl deep in my heart
Two young lovers on the run
Just a couple of kids having fun
And now it tears me all apart
Because I still carry that girl deep in my heart
I just can't seem to get a hold of my emotions
Love was so good to us
Why did it have to end?
We were just children playing in the sunshine
I just can't pretend that it didn't mean anything to me
I just cannot pretend
Oh, why did it have to end?
Now I don't know what to do
The pain these memories are putting me through
I walk around in a state of shock
Because I still carry that girl deep in my heart
Heartaches I count by the dozen at night
Trying so hard to make it through the fight
My whole world is falling apart
Because I still carry that girl deep in my heart
I just can't seem to get a hold of my emotions
Love was so good to us
Why did it have to end?
We were just children playing in the sunshine
I just can't pretend that it didn't mean anything to me
I just cannot pretend
Oh, why did it have to end?
It all began as a love affair
It meant nothing and we didn't care
So how was I to know what would start?
Now I carry that girl deep in my heart
I'll always carry that girl deep in my heart
