GOD IS DEAD - Written by Carroll Bryant
Someone said to me that god was dead
I looked around and I could see evidence
No one else had noticed as it were they were too busy
Busy living in their own over self confidence
And so I thought about what was said to me
I could feel a tear develop in my eyes
This has to be some kind of mistake
Or real bad dream
How could one suggest that love has died?
And yes, I cried
And so I read my paper and shake my head
All the while believing god is dead
I walk around the streets and see the blood that he bled
Walking down the street believing god is dead
Oh, no
I carry all this knowledge from what I've learned
But it doesn't do me any good in this barbaric world
The people seem content to watch their cities burn
The people seem content to watch some naked pretty girl
And so I thought about what it all meant to me
No emotions do I feel now that I'm alone
This has to be some kind of a joke
Or catastrophe
The blood I've come to know
The blood I've always known
But never shown
And so I read my paper and shake my head
All the while believing god is dead
I walk around the streets and see the blood that he bled
Walking down the street believing god is dead
Oh, no
No paper chase to a foreign moon
Only the cries and despair that death will be here soon
No hope or prayer
No distant mood
Only the cold reality that life will be here soon
And so I read my paper and shake my head
All the while believing god is dead
I walk around the streets and see the blood that he bled
Walking down the street believing god is dead
I can't believe that god is dead
Oh, no
