Wounds

WOUNDS - Written by Carroll Bryant

What if everything I ever believed in hindered on your feelings?
And if you didn’t believe in me I would die right here standing?
Knowing that every word that I was speaking meant nothing
Turning your back to me so easy and then leaving

You’re gone

What if I surrendered?
I’m trapped between what tomorrow brings
And what yesterday threw away
Why I’m so bewildered is a mystery inside of me
I don’t know what to say when the wounds stop healing

What if everything I ever constructed was made of confetti?
And if you didn’t like it, the colors would start fading?
Knowing that every portrait that I ever painted was jaded
Turning your back to me and forgetting, then leaving

You’re gone

What if I surrendered?
I’m trapped between what tomorrow brings
And what yesterday threw away
Why I’m so bewildered is a mystery inside of me
I don’t know what to say when the wounds stop healing

So this is how I’m gonna cry?
Metallic tears unbending
So this is how I’m gonna die?
Alone here, old and freezing
So this is how I’m gonna try?
Giving up and being deleted
So this is now a time to surmise?
I’m defeated

And you’re gone

What if I surrendered?
I’m trapped between what tomorrow brings
And what yesterday threw away
Why I’m so bewildered is a mystery inside of me
I don’t know what to say when the wounds stop healing
