Somewhere In Mexico

SOMEWHERE IN MEXICO - Written by Carroll Bryant

I’m drinking tequila with a girl named Maria
And dancing on the tip of my toes
Eating burritos with Jose and Tito
While the salt air is burning my nose
I’m living on sunshine, going straight out of my mind
It’s like being in a picture show
Trapped incognito with these pesky mosquito’s
Without a woman that I used know

I feel like a ragweed in lieu of a big sneeze
Harping of the good old days
Getting my tan on while the tourists have long gone
Parting in our separate ways
Drowning my sorrow in the words of tomorrow
Aching for some better shade
Sucking on sand crab like a delirious Arab
Under clouds of cherry marmalade

I woke up somewhere in Mexico
I got lost on some old whiskey Joe
It’s almost like I just don’t care
This old heart is bare
She took it somewhere I can’t go
Somewhere down in that old Mexico
It’s such a long way from Tobacco Road
It’s almost like a water slide
Without the good time
With people I don’t want to know
Somewhere down in Mexico

I’m watching the sunset and buddy I could bet
She’s watching with a different view
Taking in a full moon like a sweet Sunday monsoon
Making love to Mr. you know who
I couldn’t give a good damn so why am I so down man?
I can’t lie to tell the freaking truth
I haven’t any new plans for the sake of my weekend
There’s nothing here for me to do

I woke up somewhere in Mexico
I got lost on some old whiskey Joe
It’s almost like I just don’t care
This old heart is bare
She took it somewhere I can’t go
Somewhere down in that old Mexico
It’s such a long way from Tobacco Road
It’s almost like a water slide
Without the good time
With people I don’t want to know
Somewhere down in Mexico

In the early morning slow rain there is dew on my cold brain
And a daiquiri in my hand
With sounds of the ocean as I move in slow motion
My feet buried in the sand
Feeling so high strung from all of this ho-hum
I wish I was a different man
Senhoritas are singing in my head that is ringing
I wish they’d sing a different hymn

I woke up somewhere in Mexico
I got lost on some old whiskey Joe
It’s almost like I just don’t care
This old heart is bare
She took it somewhere I can’t go
Somewhere down in that old Mexico
It’s such a long way from Tobacco Road
It’s almost like a water slide
Without the good time
With people I don’t want to know
Somewhere down in Mexico
I got lost on some old whiskey Joe
It’s almost like I just don’t care
This old heart is bare
She took it somewhere I can’t go
Somewhere down in that old Mexico
It’s such a long way from Tobacco Road
It’s almost like a water slide
Without the good time
With people I don’t want to know
Somewhere down in Mexico
