American Yankee

AMERICAN YANKEE - Written by Carroll Bryant

Take it or leave it
You can't believe it
Has justice really gone this bad?
It's the saddest day in every way
And freedom has been all but bagged

The price that you're paying
Well, you're not saying
I suppose the truth is still there
But it's the way that it's done that is leaving you stunned
Are you the only one who cares?

This is America the great
It stinks in here, I have to say
This is a Yankee Doodle place
There's nothing left but a lonely face

This is America the great
It has become a pure disgrace
This is a Yankee Doodle thing
There's nothing left to brag about

Love it or leave it
You can't conceive it
Has everyone just gone insane?
The power of the people cannot develop
While the government keeps playing its games

Too much red tape to investigate
And the flag can no longer wave
It's the way of the new land you ignorant young man
Just slaves right to your graves

This is America the great
Too bad you can't make your escape
This is a Yankee Doodle date
With another communist face

This is America the great
Come on in, you know you're late
This is a Yankee Doodle drink
Without your hat it's hard to think

Uncle Sam is on the rise my friend
Telling lies again
The way it always is and has always been
Father time has left our side again
Can't face the bitter end
The way it always is and has always been

And will again

Take it or leave it
You can't retrieve it
The thought of it just gets you down
It's the constitution of the new revolution
That keeps on coming back around

This is America the great
It stinks in here, I have to say
This is a Yankee Doodle place
There's nothing left but a lonely face

This is America the great
It has become a pure disgrace
This is a Yankee Doodle thing
There's nothing left to brag about

Nothing left to sing about
