DESPERATE TOWN - Written by Carroll Bryant
It's a desperate town at night
And I love to walk beneath the quiet lights
And I think to myself that it's great to be alive
And it's just too bad, and more just so sad
To be all alone and all by myself in a desperate town
It's just that time of year
When all the leaves begin to die
In their demise they bring us such beauty to an ugly world
And peace to my lonely eyes
Feeling desperate tonight
And in a real strange way
I get excited by the smell of the air
And I wish that every night could be like the night is right now
Underneath the quiet lights in a desperate town
A desperate town
Where you can hang your dreams on hangers
That dangle from a desperate cloud
A desperate town
Where you can run through it a million times
Over and over
And still you never get nowhere
But it still doesn't get you down
Because it's such a desperate town
And in a real strange way
I get involved in the way of its sounds
And I wish that every night would be just like tonight
Underneath the quiet lights of a desperate town
A desperate town
Where you can hang your dreams on hangers
That dangle from a desperate cloud
A desperate town
Where you can run through it a million times
Over and over
And still you never get nowhere
But it still doesn't get you down
Because it's such a desperate town
It's a desperate town at night
As I think to myself
And it's great to be alive
But it sucks to be all by myself tonight
In a desperate town
In a desperate town tonight
