Love Was The Magic

LOVE WAS THE MAGIC - Written by Carroll Bryant

Your trembling knees as you stand right in front of me
Hiding the lies with your usual rules
This is a pivotal scene that makes or breaks dreams
Let the light of your dark heart guide you

I throw questions at you because I don't want the answers
I'd rather they break when they miss you and hit the wall
I smell it on you and it lingers in the room
Don't cry - your tears are forbidden to fall

Love was the magic that held us together
Lust was the poison that broke both of our hearts
Love was the magic through all other endeavors
Your weakest of moments tore us apart

To never see it coming is the wickedest bullet
Deception is always given birth to the dumb
I slay all the anger because you know if I didn't
It would kill me, and death isn't fun

I never said I'll stay so stop wording your ears
I'll slice both of mine off to the bone
My shadow stands tall in the face of its fears
Of living in this world so cold and all alone

Now everything is wrong

Love was the magic that held us together
Lust was the poison that broke both of our hearts
Love was the magic through all other endeavors
Your weakest of moments tore us apart

Love was the magic that didn't last forever
