THE LEFT EYE - Written by Carroll Bryant
Just how far can a soul submit to another heart?
Just how long will jealousy take to break it apart?
If we can't believe in each other
And we can't trust in our lover
Then there's nothing left for us to be
Just how dark is the August sky when the stars burn out?
Just how sad is the happiest clown if he can't roustabout?
If we can't believe in a meaning
Then maybe we're better off dreaming
For someone to come along and set us all free
They say that god lives in the left eye
And so I commit all of my sins from the right eye
But late at night when I'm all alone
I look for you through this telescope
Close my mind and fall in love
Just how deep do emotions run when the time is right?
Just how fast does a comet fly across the dead of the night?
If we can't kiss without poison
Then where in the hell are we going?
And could someone please, tell me why?
They say that god lives in the left eye
And so I tell all of my lies from the right eye
But late at night in the heart of my fire
I look for you through this burning desire
Close my mind and fall in love
Will you walk with me into the valley of the shadow of doubt?
Will you talk to me on the way in and again on the way out?
And could you tell me what we're all about?
Just how far can a soul submit to another heart?
Just how long will jealousy take to break it apart?
If we can't believe in each other
And we can't trust in our lover
Then there's nothing left for us to be
They say that god lives in the left eye
And so I commit all of my sins from the right eye
But late at night when I'm all alone
I look for you on the telephone
Close my mind and fall in love
I fall in love
