STATE OF OBLIVION - Written by Carroll Bryant
We meet
We exchange our pleasantries
We eat
Our dinner and each other
Next thing we know we are madly in love
Talking together about the future
And then our past catches up to us
Ignorance turns into clever
If we ever reach the state of oblivion
Will we only take the love that each of us has given?
And if we ever talk about our problems with somebody else
Would we ever stop to think that our love was merely an illusion?
We're playing in the state of our innocence
We leave broken pieces in our wake
In the state of oblivion
We meet
We discuss our fatal dreams
We stay
To touch each others bodies
Next thing we know we're walking down the aisle
Anticipating memories
That hide behind a honeymoon smile
Ignorance is bliss
If we ever reach the state of oblivion
Will we only take the love that each of us has given?
And if we ever talk about our problems with somebody else
Would we ever stop to think that our love was merely an illusion?
We're playing in the state of our innocence
We leave broken pieces in our wake
In the state of oblivion
You can be that little girl playing with your dolls
I will be that little boy growing up on football
A summer day
A baseball game
Drinking lemonade
Playing doctor in the shade
We meet
We disrupt our destiny
We seek
The power from each others heart
Next thing we know we're growing old together
Living in the weather
That brought us to said place and time
Ignorance is left behind
If we ever reach the state of oblivion
Will we only take the love that each of us has given?
And if we ever talk about our problems with somebody else
Would we ever stop to think that our love was merely an illusion?
We're playing in the state of our innocence
We leave broken pieces in our wake
In the state of oblivion
In the state of oblivion
We're living in the state of our oblivion
Too oblivious to understand
