California Dreams

CALIFORNIA DREAMS - Writtenby Carroll Bryant

It was mid-day in the sweltering Missouri heat
When inspiration struck sweet Natalie
“This dead end life isn’t the life for me”
She needed something bigger and more obscene

She bought a one way ticket
Said goodbye to her friends
Swore to never come back until she made it
Looking straight ahead
Never looking back again
Hollywood or bust, she’s gonna make it
Said goodbye to mom and dad
And she packed up everything
Just a small town girl with California dreams

Carrie was a waitress in New Mexico
Stuck in a rut with almost no place to go
The desperation on her face left her all alone
Without a heart is to be without a home

She bought a one way ticket
Said goodbye to her friends
Swore to never come back until she made it
Looking straight ahead
Never looking back again
Hollywood or bust, she’s gonna make it
Said goodbye to mom and dad
And she packed up everything
Just a small town girl with California dreams

There’s got to be something more to what there is
A moonlight rendezvous can lead a girl to this

Into a world of happiness

It was a romance that didn’t go as planned
Leaving Jennifer without a steady man
Taking a deep breath and clasping her hands
With a gleam in her eye and slowly to shaking her head

She bought a one way ticket
Said goodbye to her friends
Swore to never come back until she made it
Looking straight ahead
Never looking back again
Hollywood or bust, she’s gonna make it
Said goodbye to mom and dad
And she packed up everything
Just a small town girl with California dreams

They’re just small town girls with California dreams
