Heartbeat Mine

HEARTBEAT MINE - Written by Carroll Bryant

I walk down the road of my life
Always looking over my shoulder
I can hear footsteps following behind me
Will it get worse as I grow older?

Every day passes like a ghost
Each one bleeding into the next one
I live this illusion caught in my confusion
Looking at the light of the sun

People speak the word of the wise
Sometimes you don’t want to open up your eyes
Not everything you do is going to come back to you
Just know your love is alive

I just know my heartbeat is mine

There’s constant writing on the wall
Always trying to read between invisible lines
I can see discrepancies in almost everything
Never to read anything at all

Every night swims in a pool
Drowning in somebody else’s misery
My flotation device is trying to always be nice
Thoughts that roam wild constantly

People speak the word of the wise
Sometimes you don’t want to open up your eyes
Not everything you do is going to come back to you
Just know your love is alive

I just know my heartbeat is mine

I can tie up rainbows and make them flowers for your day
I know you’re still going throw those dreams away
You can live your life being mean to me every day
I’m still gonna love you no matter what you do or don’t say

I only wish you will stop acting this way

So as we walk down the road of life
Feel the hot rays turning colder
We can sense shadows looking at us all
It’ll only get worse as we grow older

Every thought becomes our intention
Each one more obscene than the next one
We live in squallier of memories growing taller
Always being blinded by the sun

I only wish you were the one

People speak the word of the wise
Sometimes you don’t want to open up your eyes
Not everything you do is going to come back to you
Just know your love is alive

People speak the word of the wise
Sometimes you don’t want to open up your eyes
Not everything that’s true will come back to you
Just know your love is alive

I just know my heartbeat is mine
