THE MEDICINE GOES DOWN - Written by Carroll Bryant
N'tho you never made a sound
I looked around and you were just standing there
I never thought a lot about it
Even though
Inside my heart I cared for you
You brought me in from off of the edge
Of a bottomless canyon
And told me all the things that I needed to hear
N'tho you never made a sound
You were always there
How can it be that the medicine goes down
A lost heart can't be found
Drifting like a log in the middle of the sea
And how can it be that a house of brick burns down
All the way to the ground
And nothing remains but the memories
N'tho you never made a sound
I looked around and you were gone for good
I never tried to face the truth until now
Even though
Inside my heart I knew I would
You took the best that I had to offer
And gave it a new meaning for the world to believe
N'tho you never made a sound
You were there for me
How can it be that the medicine goes down
A lost heart can't be found
Drifting like a log in the middle of the sea
And how can it be that a house of brick burns down
All the way to the ground
And nothing remains but the memories
N'tho you never made a sound
You were there for me
How can it be that the medicine goes down
A lost soul's tied and bound
Trapped in the fear of a midnight scene
And how can it be that an ounce of pain weighs a pound
A tear is painted on a clown
And nothing has changed but faded dreams
N'tho you never made a sound
I looked around and you were gone for good
I never thought a lot about it
Even though
Inside my heart I cared for you
You brought me in from off of the edge
Of a bottomless canyon
And told me all the things that I needed to hear
N'tho you never made a sound
You were always there
You took the best that I had to offer
And gave it a new meaning for the whole world to see
N'tho you never made a sound
You were there for me
You were always there for me
