The Road Back To Soul

THE ROAD BACK TO SOUL - Written by Carroll Bryant

The hour of the dawn is upon me
I arise to the glory of the vision of life
My mind will capture the moment
My feet will take me to what I see with sad, lonely eyes

All of the wisdom I have acquired has taught me
That my knowledge knows nothing
Absolutely nothing
As some of what I think I do not believe
And at the point of when life turns full circle
The sun will be shinning on me

And so I fill my pockets full of gold
Take another look at the past and I know
I lost my way somewhere that I didn't want to go
And now I find myself searching for the road back to soul

The timing of a full moon clearly blinds me
I concentrate on useless things
Come to grips with my despair
In a momentary lapse of uncommon reason
Strip naked
Take a walk around the block
And I don't care

All of the people look on with shame at my disguise
They can't look into my eyes or tell the truth
From those bitter lies
And I
To stand before loves majesty
Standing all alone

And so I fill my pockets full of gold
Take a look into the future and I know
I lost my way somewhere that I didn't want to go
But now I'm on the road back to soul

I am the president of the government in my own mind
Let the rain pretend that it's cleansing me
The mist gets in my eyes
I am the the leader of the membership I self provide
Let the rain pretend it knows me
And somehow I shall survive

The hour of the midnight is upon me
Like a ghost it stares at me and haunts me
I feel my feet below me but I'm not allowed to run
The picture plays my memory but everything is snowy

And so I fill my pockets full of gold
Take another look at the past and I know
I lost my way somewhere that I didn't want to go
But now I'm on the road back to soul

And so I fill my pockets full of gold
Take a look into the future and I know
I lost my way somewhere that I didn't want to go
And now I find myself walking down the road back to soul

And now I find myself ... walking down the road back to soul
