Where are the children?

I can’t hear them laughing

I can’t see them playing

Where did they disappear?

Where are the children?

Are they somewhere crying?

Are they somewhere hiding?

Why are they not here?

I woke up out of a nightmare

The world had no more children

Nobody seemed to even care

They just went about their day

I went to search for them everywhere

Under every rock and stone

I looked here and I looked there

How could they just up and go away?

The future is at stake for you and me

Why can’t you believe?

The future is in their young hands

So hold them tight and teach them right

Let their spirits roam with their dreams

Where could they possibly be?
